Text Box: Spring has been beautiful at the orchard this year. The trees were so full of blooms that they looked like vanilla ice cream cones. That has translated into a bumper crop of apples, cherries, asian pears, grapes and peaches. We are busy thinning daily so the fruit size will be large.
We are looking forward to a great season that will give you entertainment, joy, and most of all delicious and healthy fruit.
Look for new pictures and updates throughout our growing season.

Welcome to Sky Top Orchard!

2008

                            (828)  692-7930

We welcome you to the beautiful mountains of western North Carolina.   We are located in historic Flat Rock, perched atop scenic Mt McAlpine at an elevation of 3000 ft.   Our orchard is family owned and family farmed -- a labor of love for nearly 25 years!

If you're looking for a "pick your own" orchard you've come to the right place!   In fact, "picking your own" is the best way to take in the scenic beauty of our orchard.  You'll see our orchard ponds with ducks and geese... our 'barnyard' area with sheep, goats, chickens, and turkeys... beautiful panoramic views and lots of picnic areas... and of course, a mountaintop of fragrant apple trees... Fun for the whole family!

Looking for delicious fresh-squeezed apple cider?  Look no further!  Our special blend is made fresh here at Sky Top, and it has become an autumn favorite.  Just picture crunching into a fresh juicy apple...its aroma...its cool sweet flavor. This is what a glass of our apple cider is like -- our cider is made from nothing but fresh apples.   We also offer fresh frozen cider for those who are traveling more than a few hours' distance.

Our warm days and cool summer nights create conditions perfect for high quality, firm apples with good shelf life. With over 25 varieties of apple trees covering 40 acres, there's a taste and variety for everyone.  Our orchard offers so much more than delicious apples and amazing mountain views.  Here are just some of the treats awaiting you at Sky Top:

Pick-your-own apples, and, in season,                pick-your-own pumpkins & grapes

    Hot "made-while-you-watch" cake doughnuts

     School and group tours

     Birthday parties

     Beautiful picnic areas

Barnyard goats, sheep, chickens, turkeys, ducks, and geese

     An observation beehive

A large selection of tasty apple goods, hot apple cider, fresh hot caramel apples, fudge apples

An observation area of apple grading, sorting, and bagging
